When the body tries to release the excess chemicals that are formed, you get acne. This is the body’s way of cleaning itself and getting rid of the excess chemicals and toxins. Almost all acne patients are looking for any way to get rid of acne. You should be careful while using creams and other medicines as these may cause side effects. Using natural treatment methods are the best way to get rid of acne.
If you understand the specific causes of acne, then you can cure or prevent acne by shielding yourself to these causes. Unhealthy food habits and natural bodily functions usually cause acne. Unhealthy food habits result in the formation of excess toxins and chemicals in the body. If these excess chemicals and toxins are not converted into fat and stored in the body, they tend to result in acne as this is body’s way of getting rid of these chemicals. You can also exercise as this helps in getting rid of acne and also allows you to stay healthy. The sweat also carries with it the excess chemicals and toxins that is not needed by the body.
You should wash your face regularly and keep your skin clean. The dirt and grime that you have collected on your face during the day should be washed off as these contribute to acne. A very useful way of cleaning the pores of your skin is to expose it to steam. You can get a bowl of water which is steaming and hold your face above the bowl until the steam stops. This causes the impurities in the pores to come out of them and this can be washed off with soap and water. Due to the steam, the skin becomes hot and this results in the pores opening. This facilitates the removal of the dirt and grime. The steam also results in sweat from your body which through which unhealthy toxins are removed from your body. Then later when you wash your skin with cold water, the skin becomes cool. This causes the pores to contract which closes them so that no impurities can enter the pores for a small period of time.
If you put medicine on your skin before steaming, then the medicine can sink into the pores, thus giving it a good cleaning effect. You should make sure you remove the dirt and oil from your skin by washing it before the steaming process. Steam in itself cannot entirely remove acne. When this steaming is combined with medication for acne, your skin can become entirely clean. You should overdo the entire steaming process as this will cause your skin to remain dry. Dry skin can lead to more oil on the face which will in turn clog up the pores of your skin. These steam facials should not be done for only two to three days a week as steam is an extremely powerful cleaner of acne. Sticking to this routine will help you lead an acne free life.

Many people may have heard of blackheads, but what causes blackheads? Michael has written an article below to help you understand the causes of blackheads.
The Cause of Blackheads
There are a lot of factors, which causes blackheads. Our genes are given primary importance in this case. If a family member from the previous generation suffered from acne, your chances of acquiring acne become quite high. The medical term assigned to the blackheads is known as an open comedo. The excess oil produced by the sebaceous glands blocks the pores and propionibacterium grows in the company of excess oil, thus accumulating all the ingredients, which causes acne. This results in inflammation of the skin and the much-dreaded pimple takes shape. When the oil reacts with the oxygen present in the air, it goes through the process of oxidization and becomes dark in color and that is why it is termed as blackheads. The sebaceous glands get quite active during puberty and starts to produce oils. The adrenal glands produces a male hormone, which is found in both men and women, helps in fuelling the sebaceous gland.
The causes for acne formation are not the same for everybody. It differs from person to person. It is a general notion that the food consumed by us plays a major role in causing acne. Although it has not been proved scientifically yet, but many people are very hypersensitive when it comes to food. Food remains a debatable issue in the subject of acnes. Those who possess a dark skin tone can heave a sigh of relief as these type of skin are less prone to severe forms of acne. The components present in your cosmetic are largely responsible or attracting blackheads. It is imperative to check the components of your cosmetics before making any purchase and you should strictly avoid products containing isopropyl esters, cocoa butter, potassium chloride, wheat gram oil, etc and never get products which are meant for oily skin as they just aggravate your blackheads.
Have you been dealing with a lot of stress at school or office, and are you blaming it for the embarrassing acne? If your answer is a resounding yes, then stop doing so as stress can only intensify the acne, it is no way responsible for the cause of blackheads. A sunscreen lotion should always be applied, as sunburns will worsen the conditions of blackheads. The climatic conditions of a particular location might cause blackheads as the production of oil increases in the hot weather and also cause dryness to the skin and aggravate the blackhead as whenever the skin becomes overtly dry, the body reacts by boosting the production of oil.

Those people who have had to deal with the frustration and emotional distress of acne often end up with lasting reminders of their battle in the form of facial scarring. Some of the acne scars are superficial at most but still can create problems with the person’s self image. The resulting scars can be almost as crippling to deal with emotionally as acne itself.
If you are having problems dealing with acne’s lingering reminders you may want to check with a dermatologist to see what he or she might recommend as options. It is often the best idea to get the opinions of two or three. When you actually make appointments with the dermatologists and spend some time discussing the problem before you choose your treatment plan you have time and information to help you make a more informed decisions.
Dermatologists will inspect the scarring to determine the type and depth and they will use this to recommend the best option for you. There are some topical skin creams that are available with Retin A which may offer you some improvement. The Retin A helps in the exfoliation and resurfacing of the top few layers of skin. You may also be a candidate for chemical peels which usually provide good relief to superficial scarring. Dermabrasion is yet another alternative and it is where the top layer of skin is removed with the use of an instrument much like a small sander. Laser resurfacing is also available and it is the most expensive of all of these treatments. It does result in much smoother skin and diminishes the appearance of the deeper scarring. There are newer lasers available now that do not hurt the skin at all-a welcome feature. One is a pulsed-dye laser and the other is fractionated laser.
There are some creams that you can purchase at the drugstore that will moisturize and soothe your skin creating a smoother effect and calming the redness. These do not offer much in the way of actually getting rid of the scars however. There are also some other medications that can be purchased for home use and these target scar tissue and work to diminish these tissues. They often take only 6-8 weeks for any noticeable effect to occur.

Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne vulgaris. Deep inflamed breakout develops on the face and other parts of the body. This is caused when the clogged pores on the skin also get infected with bacteria. Cystic acne is painful in many cases and often causes scarring of the skin. For cystic acne cure there are several options available, which includes homemade natural remedies, antibiotics and homeopathic remedies. For a clean clear acne skin a methodical treatment approach is required.
To get rid of acne cyst, three good treatment options available are Allopathic, Homeopathic and Natural home remedies. All the three options are explained in brief below:
A) Allopathic: Antibiotic medicines will be in the form of topical solution or oral drugs. There are several medicines that can be purchased over the counter. Topical antibiotics like Retinol or Benzoyl Peroxide help in removing the bacterial infection in the pores and hair follicles. Oral cystic acne cure in the basic form may consist of Doxycycline, Erythromycin or Tetracycline. However before starting any medication it is important to understand the side effects.
If Cystic acne is severe, normal antibiotics may not solve the problem. You may be prescribed Accutane for severe cystic acne cure. This is a very effective antibiotic, which clears the cystic acne causing bacterial infection. However this drug does have lot of side effects, which may be in the form of depression, defective child in pregnant women, headaches, and joint pains among several other side effects.
B) Homeopathic: Homeopathic remedies that are prescribed often for cystic acne cure are Arnica and or Silicea. Since it is believed that Homeopathic medicines address the root cause of the problem and not the effect, homeopathic treatment can actually be effective to get rid of acne cyst. However one should take these medications through a homeopathic doctor only.
C) Natural Home Remedies: Some of the effective natural home remedies for Cystic acne cure are:
1) Pulp of fruits like orange and grapefruit, which contain salicylic acid, is very effective cystic acne cure. The juice from the pulp needs to be drained and the pulp can then be applied to the skin directly.
2) A paste made by mixing turmeric, sandalwood and Neem is also a good cystic acne cure because turmeric has anti-bacterial properties and helps in clearing cystic acne.
3) Other natural remedies for skin acne like tea tree oil and Aloe Vera juice can be of used for mild form of cystic acne.
Other than these natural remedies, people who want to get rid of acne cyst should refrain from squeezing the acne. One should take non-oily low fat food like vegetables, pulses, sprouts etc. For a good skin Vitamins A and D are also essential.

Both men and women can have acne, but there are some differences between men having acne and women having acne. Mei writes some of the facts related to women with acne.
Acne in Women - Why Women Feel More Burdened With Acne
In general, women will feel more burdened than men when it comes to acne problems. This is understandable as women are more concerned about their looks than men. At certain times, a woman’s endocrine or hormonal system is also more susceptible to acne. All these are reasons why women would spend more money on acne treatments and skin care products.
A woman’s endocrine system seems to work faster and produces more hormones than man’s. That’s why women enter puberty earlier then men; this also explains why girls develop acne sooner then boys during the teenage years. Statistics show that acne becomes noticeable in girls at the age of about 11 years old; whereas boys will start developing acne when they are 13 years old.
As we all know during puberty, the hormone levels in teenagers are sky high; besides producing hormones such as estrogens or testosterone at a faster pace, a class of hormones that are less well known by name are also produced. These hormones are known as androgens and are believed to be more pertinent to acne onset during puberty.
Both women and men share these hormones. But, the rise of these hormones will occur sooner in girls. However, when boys reach their puberty, the androgen levels rise even higher. This explains why boys suffer more severe acne problems than girls during their teen years.
Statistics show that about 2/3 of all teens will develop acne, at least in mild form. But for girls, acne condition tends to last longer, at least cyclically. As females enter their 20s, her menstrual cycle would increase the likelihood of developing acne or at least mild acne. Since that occurs approximately once per month, so does the acne outbreak. For almost 62% of women, the week prior to the onset of flow is typically the worst and most susceptible to acne.
Pregnancy offers some relief, but it mostly shifts the pattern. It doesn’t eliminate acne entirely. During pregnancy, acne breakouts can occur at random. As our skin condition changes, some women who have never had acne before could be plagued by acne during pregnancy. The likelihood of getting acne is higher during the first trimester since hormone levels are changing most rapidly during this interval.
Be extra careful about what medications or treatments you opt for if you’re pregnant. Many over the counter treatments are considered safe. However, some studies strongly advise us to avoid using isotretinoin (brand name: Accutane) and tetracycline (doxycycline) as they may cause harmful side effects. Some studies even suggest that they may cause birth defects or development problems in the fetus. When in doubt, consult a dermatologist.
Acne problems reduce as we grow older; however, it doesn’t mean that it won’t occur. In fact, surveys show that over 50% of women and 42.5% of men between ages 20-29 develop acne. The numbers drop to 35.2% for women and 20.1% for men between ages 30-39. By the time women reach their 40s, the number will drop further to 26.3% and 12% for men. As we reach 50 and above, the numbers decrease further to 15% and 7% for women and men respectively.

It is probable that most of us will have to deal with some type of skin problem in our lives. Because skin problems can cause discomfort and even embarrass us, they should not make us hide ourselves away from the rest of the world. Acne and eczema are the two more common skin disorders that are known.
Acne is mostly found in teenagers, although it is very common among adults as well. It is said that one out of every four adults will have to go through acne blemishes at some point in their life. However, many wander what really causes these outbreaks.
Acne can be due to many different factors that include hormones, heredity, stress, and medications. It is important to know that acne is not caused by any one factor alone. Many people believe that people with acne are not clean or they eat too much grease or fat. However this is just a myth.
The fact is that acne has nothing to do with your lifestyle or your skin’s origin. When oil gets trapped below the surface of your skin, it can cause bacteria to start multiplying. This is what will usually cause your skin to become irritated while developing pimples and blemishes.
What can we do to fight an unwelcome skin disorder? First of all we need to recommend that you wash your skin once or twice a day with a good cleanser. You need to stay away from cleansers that contain harsh acids because this will only irritate your skin further. To avoid irritation you should never scrub your face. It is best to use only your fingertips when you are washing and this will limit the sensitivity in your skin and keep your pores clean.
Another problem with the skin is eczema. This will intrude upon 15 million Americans and eczema can show up in a many ways. It is usually going to appear as a dry patch of skin that is red and irritated and it can also lead to cracking, itching, blisters, and seeping sores.
Eczema is known to be a hereditary condition but it can also be brought on by other reasons. There are things like irritants such as colognes, perfumes, detergents, soaps, household chemicals, and of course stress can bring on the eczema symptoms.
You may wander how you can combat this disorder. The first thing is to avoid any potential triggers like any of the above. Prevention is the best medicine for most skin conditions, and eczema is no exception to the rule. If you already have eczema, you should not get upset. There are many creams and ointments that are going to help treat the symptoms of it.
The best advice for any skin problem is to get help forms a good dermatologist. The professional help will have the skills and the tools that are needed to address and treat your skin the right way. Also you can regain your confidence and get back to a normal life without worrying about your skin breaking out.

Oily skin is not fun to have. It can show up to be thick and dull looking with coarse pores and pimples forming. This is due to the oil glands of the skin and that they are overactive and oil will build up in the skin. This will make it more assessable to forming blackheads. The skin will look to have a greasy shine to it and this will make it look coarse. Many do not have oily skin and instead they have combination skin, which means that in some areas it may be dry or just normal in others. Oily skin does have its disadvantages and the main one is that it will age slower than other skin types.
Because of the dry skin, genetics will be more at play in the case of oily skin. There are other things that will contribute to oily skin conditions and they will include diet, hormones, cosmetics, pregnancy, contraceptives and environmental conditions like hotter and humid climates. Because the levels of hormones are high, especially testosterone, this will make the oil glands over active, oily skin is going to be more noticeable in the teenage years. The same reason will be for oily skin conditions in women that are pregnant or in menopause.
There are regular cleansing routines with hot water and soap that is needed to prevent oil build up and clogging of skin pores. You need to be careful that you do not use harsh soaps and other products that will make your skin dry. If you are using dehydrating products on the skin, the upper layer will go dry and shrink. This will result in the obstruction with the flow of oil through the pores. The result is going to clogging of the pores.
You need to wash the skin with hot water that is comfortable for you. Hot water will dissolve the oil better. Do not use cleansing creams. You need to go for an antibacterial cleansing lotion or a mild medicated soap to do this. When you are done cleaning, treat the skin with a natural and oil free moisturizer.
If your skin is too oily, and you are under the age of thirty, you should do four cleanings a day and use little or no moisturizer after cleansing. Use your fingers to massage your face while you are cleansing.
A clay or mud mask will help you to take care of the oily conditions of the skin. For sensitive skin, white or rose colored clays are better to use as a mask. Before putting on makeup, a woman may want to use antiseptic day cream that will reduce the activity of oil glands.
There are diets that are high in protein but are going to lack the sugar, fluids and salt that are recommended for anyone with oily skin problems. Eating vegetables and fruits are defiantly going to help you. You especially want the ones that are rich in vitamin B2. These will be whole grains, beans, nuts, and royal jelly. You should use minimum oil in your diet and stay away from alcohol, soda, sugar filled drinks, chocolate and many other junk food items. You need to talk to your doctor or dermatologist about your skin conditions and find out what is best for you.

As we are all aware of, there are emotional effects caused by acne. More than those obvious red bumps on your face, there are effects of acne that could not just be healed by any cream or acne solution and that is the emotional scars left by acne. Well, no doctor or any expert dermatologist could provide you with the best answers to this problem on acne.
According to studies, acne is very common when one is on his or her teenage years. For teenagers experiencing the pains of acne, it is very difficult to face the social impacts of acne. There are these marks of shame, depression and even self-pity. As a parent of a teenager who faces this problem, you could be one of the greatest helps. What could you do? You could do a lot.
Remind your child that acne is temporary.
As a guardian, you need to be there and give the encouragement to your child. You would probably see him or her so down due to the way people and criticisms pinch him or her. Tell that it will not last for long and that it would be successfully surpassed. Never stop to explain the importance of moving on despite the negative reactions from others for their words are not that important at all.
Bring your teen to a good dermatologist
Do not wait for your teen’s acne problem to get worse before you go and see a dermatologist. The earlier the better, this may be cliché but very true for this matter and you could realize the truth behind this. You need to find the dermatologist who deserves your trust. Be with your teen as you have visits to the dermatologist. Also, help your teen follow the reminders and instructions of the dermatologist. Rather than go to a dematologist, you can also get many acne medications and/or acne remedies online.
Guide your child to do the right things
There are some things or acts that may worsen acne. See to it that you are near your teen to remind that those are not the right thing to do and it would just cause bad effects. Explain the cause and effect of acne problems and be sure t answer questions that your teen has.
Boost your teen’s self-confidence
Self-confidence plunges down when all those mocks and teases arise. The effect to your teen would be bitter. Be there to boost the esteem he or she has inside. Be generous with praises but do not use them just to flatter. Tell your teen about how wonderful his or her talent is. This would be a lift to his or her morale.

Treating acne is really the right move when you have it, but not at all times. There are stages in the life of a person when you should be careful about treating acne. During your pregnancy is one of these times. As we know, this is a delicate stage in a woman’s life and it is that phase of a woman’s life that she must show extra care for herself. When she feels the need of treating acne, she must see to it that she equips herself with the right information.
This must also be remembered by those who may also get pregnant. The following are some medications for acne that are not good for use during pregnancy for they are harmful for the fetus:
First is Hormonal therapy that may include estrogen, flutamide, and spirolactone. They are harmful and may lead to some problems for both the mother and the child.
Another one that would just put a pregnant woman’s life in danger is Isotretinoin. This has negative effects as well, especially for pregnant women or those that are breastfeeding. This could cause severe health hazards on both the mother and the fetus inside her womb. It is advised that a woman taking this must be monitored by the expert. Those who are trying to be pregnant must ignore the use of this for it may just trigger negative effects not only for you but most especially to your child.
Oral tetracycline’s which could be of doxycycline, tetracycline and minocycline, must not be an option at all for it would not do you any good. As tested and proven, pregnant women or those that are breastfeeding must ignore the use of this for it may just give those bad side effects that would nothing else be but a threat to your life and to your child. The topmost effect is permanent discoloration of teeth or bone disorders.
The last one to ignore is topical retinoids such as tazarotene, adapalene and tretinoin.
Just like the above-mentioned means, this could just be another hazard to you and your baby’s health. So, whether you are pregnant or not, it is not wise to use all these mentioned.
For all of you who would like to treat their acne but are pregnant, why must you risk your life and the life of your child just to have a prettier face?
There is due time for treating your acne with medications and during your pregnancy is not one of the safest times.
